may be the best words to describe this past week …
not every day has been a texas star day but whenever there’s a patch of time you’ll find me sewing … those stars just calm me down and add some sparkle!
my needle is a milliner’s 9, I began with bright white thread but have found that grey may often be better (pure cotton gutermann) and the stitches are just a bit smaller this week – it’s a miracle (“back-stitch every four stitches and at every corner just to make it strong”)
as this is definitely a scrap quilt I’ve begun to sew some stars together in long strips of 15 and the color scheme has changed from greens and pinks to include fresh blue because it looks good with the limey-green centres (to my eyes, anyway …)
thank you so much to Sandra and Ethel for passing on many precious pieces of liberty from their collections (and to Snowy, who’s always there in a chair right beside me (often asleep, but never mind) as the sewing happens …)
wishing you a happy week ahead and looking forward to seeing you again soon!
love, Barbara

Hello there Barbara! This delightful picture is of you I imagine? It’s lovely to see you and read you too. Am I right in saying those starts are becoming addictive? Working with Liberty fabrics is always addictive.
Wishing you a lovely, not too busy in the right sort of way week.
Whoops! I meant to write ‘stars’ not ‘starts’. It’s funny how one can reread and miss mistakes like that. Or is is just me? ;-)
Well hello Barbara, long time no visit and I find I have missed your wonderful giveaway and the opening of your shop .. which looks very stylish by the way! I remember seeing that gorgeous Polly fabric on etsy and having it in my favourites for long enough, before it got discontinued. Drat! Hope you find some anyway.
You look lovely there, stitching away and I do like your green cardi. You always wear beautiful cardis!

Starryness abounds! Love that pic of you … you look so absorbed in what you are doing. Happy stitching :D
Your Liberty stars are looking so pretty, Barbara. It is such an absorbing activity, isn’t it?… and very good for creating a calm atmosphere. Nice to see the picture of you too.
Have a wonderful weekend.

Thank you Barbara – much excitement when the ‘tube’ arrived yesterday. The wallpaper is as gorgeous as I’d hoped and when I feel up to it artistically I’ll give it a go in a still-life :) And the fabrics are gorgeous, especially the map like one. Thank you so much for your generosity. :) Have a great weekend, Claire x
